Scientific expedition to Carahunge. Day 5.

Updated: Sep 23, 2021

09.08.2020 The last day of scientific expedition of Byurakan Observatory after V. A. Ambartsumian and National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia to Carahunge Observatory. Day 5․

The directions of the axes of certain stone holes in the central part of the "Carahunge Observatory" were checked, the horizon-angle adjustments of several important megaliths were made.

The astronomers listed the megaliths with a complete examination, separating the ones that were obviously displaced from their original positions.

In the second half of the day, the tops of the mountains finally got rid of the clouds, and the participants of the expedition "got" the long-awaited horizon. With laser theodolite, specialists completed the measurements of the real horizon height for the 9 proposed points 360 degrees for all azimuths.

Thus, all the planned works (as if anointed from above) were brilliantly carried out, and in the evening the expedition group set out for Yerevan. The feeling of joy, happiness, and mental satisfaction for the opportunity to become a part of very valuable and powerful work by fate had infected everyone.

Months of office work are expected ahead - data processing, analysis, after which the data will be published, followed by already comprehensive astronomical (and other) research.
